O-L Legends claim major softball TOC title

The Olivehurst-linda Legends took home the District 2 Little League major softball Tournament of Champions title with a 5-3 victory over the Sutter Buttes Riptide on Sunday night at Peach Bowl Little League in Yuba City.

Danni Farris earned the win in the circle by striking out two and allowing three hits over six innings as Olivehurst-linda ended the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record.

Kendall Harris and Miah Rodriguez both went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the way offensivel­y for O-L, which also turned two double plays defensivel­y in the victory.

run in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the South Sutter Spartans in an eliminatio­n game.

Natalie Buzzini went 3 for 4

with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored, Isabella Mccleary smacked a two-run double, Rosales went 2 for 4 and scored twice, and Arnold singled and scored two runs to provide the offense for Sutter Buttes.

Kadence Herrington went 3 for 4 with two RBIS and a run scored, Meika Lauppe was 3 for 4 and scored twice, Jocelyn Bacerra hit a two-run double and Mariah Fales finished with two RBIS and scored once to lead the way for South Sutter.

MAJOR BASEBALL Sutter Buttes 8, North Yuba 5 Adrian Caudillo went 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIS to propel the tournament host Sutter Buttes Rockies past the North Yuba Nationals in a winner’s bracket game on Monday night in Yuba City.

Brandon Hueth doubled, drove in two runs and scored once, and Jordon Lee singled and scored two times to help the cause for Sutter Buttes, which improved to 4-0 and advanced to the championsh­ip round with the victory.

Hueth also struck out 12 batters over five innings.
