Sutter Buttes, Peach Bowl fall short in tournaments
9-11 BASEBALL Mckinleyville 7, Sutter-buttes 4 The Sutter-buttes’ 9-11 little league baseball team started out strong in the first inning, leading 4-3, against Mckinleyville on Saturday. But they were ultimately defeated when Mckinleyville scored four runs between the second and sixth innings during the Section 2 tournament in Yuba City. The final score was 7-4.
Alex Huerta of the Sutter-buttes went 1 for 2 and hit a double.
Hayden Hall and Gunner Wallzak both went 1 for 3 scored a run each.
Pitcher Dane Leblanc recorded seven strikeouts on the mound, allowed three hits and one run during his 2 and 2/3 innings pitched.
Joshua Shakelford recorded two strikeouts and allowed one run during his 1 and 1/3 innings pitched.
MAJOR BASEBALL East Redding 9, Peach Bowl 2 The Peach Bowl major baseball team fell to Redding East in the first round of the Section tournament on Saturday, 9-2.
The bases were loaded during three different innings for Peach Bowl but couldn’t manage a big hit. The team gave up some runs late in the game, leading to Redding’s victory.
Isaiah Kissel was 1 for 2 with one run scored. Matthew Lorentez was 1 for 3, Maddox Mcmains was 1 for 1 with two walks and Cole Barrie scored the second run after walking in the fourth inning.
