A celebration of Disney by Applause KIDS!

Applause KIDS! is a group of local students ranged in age from 7-13, learning character development, developing acting skills and learning teamwork. The group is led by (left to right) Sarah Hauck, Julian Barkley-brinson, Kara Roberts and Tyler Devine.

A celebration of Disney music and other popular songs including, “Go the Distance,” “Can’t Wait to Be King,” “Sing Your Own Song,” “Can’t Stop Singing” and more by Applause KIDS! will take place Nov. 29-Dec. 2 at the Burrows Theater in Marysville.

The originally scheduled performances for Nov. 15-18 were canceled due to the unsafe air quality caused by the Camp Fire. The new performance dates and times are Thursday, Nov. 29 and Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. with matinée performances on Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

Introduced this summer, Applause KIDS! is a program offered by Yuba Sutter Arts in collaboration with Rise Up! Youth Program for the Performing Arts, that encourages young people from 8-13 to either get up on stage for the first time or work on any performance skills they may already have.

Led by Julian Barkley-brinson and a team of Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts graduates, the program provides students with a safe, enriching educational environment to learn basic performance skills.

“Applause Kids! along with our Yuba Sutter Youth Choir program has taken us another step closer to becoming an ‘arts incubator’ and show case for local performers and artists of all ages and genres,” said David Read, Yuba Sutter Arts Executive Director.

The shows will be at the Burrows Theater, 630 E St., Marysville. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Free street parking is available and also in the adjacent Umpqua Bank and Bank of America parking lots. What: Applause KIDS! When: Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
