PREP ROUNDUP Marysville defeats Blazers in 67-50 road win

Tuesday night featured a marquis rivalry game in Linda between the Marysville and Lindhurst boy’s basketball teams. Unfortunat­ely for the home crowd, the Indians ran away with this one and finished off the game by a final score of 67-50.

Despite the tough loss for the Blazers, Zack Massey led the way with 15 points while Sam Alfred notched 13 points in the loss.

The Indians on the other hand saw great performanc­es from Blake Clavelle with 16 points and Nate Webb with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Lindhurst (2-11, 0-3) will play Colfax at home on Thursday while Marysville (15-5, 2-1) will play at home on Thursday against Foothill.

GIRLS BASKETBALL Sacramento Adventist 62, Faith Christian 16 In Yuba City – The Lions had another tough loss to the Capitals on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Brianna Brennan did well scoring five points and getting six rebounds. Faith Christian (3-10, 3-3) host El Dorado Adventist today.

East Nicolaus 40, Hamilton City 44 In Nicolaus – The Spartans couldn’t get the few points they needed in the end as the loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Down by 12 points or more during one quarter, the team made a comeback, but didn’t get the edge over they needed in the end.

Although the Spartans lost, the team played well with point guard Tiara Ceasar leading the team with 16 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.

Jane Menigoz scored 11 points and had seven rebounds and two assists.

Hannah O’conner almost had a double–double with nine points, nine rebounds and three steals.

East Nicolaus is 10-8 overall and 0-2 in league.

The junior varsity squad was able to pull out a win over the Braves, 3831.

Remington Hewitt had 12 points on the night, while both Karizma Faupula and Lacey Fuller had eight points a piece.

The junior squad is now 13-2.

East Nicolaus heads to Williams on Thursday. Wheatland 59, Orland 28 In Wheatland – The Pirates girl’s basketball team was able to get back in the win column on Monday when they faced off against Winters with a 68-22 win. Wheatland was able to make it two in a row on Tuesday when they defeated Orland 59-28.

Monday: Logan Garza led the team with 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Summer Ronk also notched nine points and seven rebounds while Alexis Durham was able to tally 12 points and seven steals.

Tuesday: Logan Garza led the way with 26 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Meanwhile, her teammate Alexis Durham scored nine points and seven assists.
