Two people killed in a head-on collision on Highway 70 Wednesday have been identified by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office.

Roberto G. Ledesma III, 33, of Marysville and Lillian R. Leal, 37, of Linda were killed when their Honda Civic drifted directly into the path of an oncoming truck Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The truck, traveling north on Highway 70 near Ramirez Road, did not have time to brake to avoid the collision and collided with the passenger side of the Honda. Ledesma, who was driving and not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car upon impact. A third occupant, a 21-yearold Marysville man, was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office did not have an update on his condition as of Thursday.

The El Sobrante driver of the truck was also transported to a hospital with major injuries. Two dogs in her vehicle were uninjured. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor, CHP said.
