A musical milestone is being celebrated at Yuba College and the public is invited.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Yuba College Music Department’s Tuesday Noon Music Recital Series and some alumni are scheduled to show up and showcase their skills.

“We’re celebrating by having an alumni recital, which will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, from noon until 12:50 p.m.,” said Yuba College professor Robert Mathews. “The recital is, as always, free and open to the public. Parking is free from 11:30 a.m until 1:30 p.m.”

Mathews said he reached out to numerous Yuba College alumni as far back as 2004 and many will be performing at next week’s recital.

“Of special note is Alumni David Antuzzi, a classical guitarist who graduated in 2004 with a degree in music. He performed at the very first Tuesday Noon Recital 15 years ago. In fact, he was a part of a classical guitar trio that performed at the first recital,” he said. “We’re going to re-create the guitar trio for the recital by having Yuko Mcwhorter, who graduated in 2007, join David and myself and play some of the same music we performed as the Yuba College Classical Guitar Trio so many years ago.”

About a half dozen alumni will be a part of the event.

“Other alumni will include Alexander Agapiades, who graduated in 2014, will perform his original composition for piano, ‘Clairvoyant.’ Aubra Duffy--aubra Capps, who graduated in 2013, will perform ‘Quando me’n vo’ from Puccini’s ‘La Boheme.’ Monica Serrano, will perform ‘Solo las flores ti’ by Mompou and Kelly Cunningham will perform ‘Steal Me’ from Menotti’s ‘Old Maid and the Thief,’” he said. “David Antuzzi will also perform some of the solo classical guitar pieces he learned after transferring to Sonoma State and obtaining his Bachelor’s degree there.”

David Antuzzi, Yuko Mcwhorter, Kelly Cunningham, Monica Serrano, Aubra Duffy and Alexander Agapiades are the alumni scheduled to perform at the event. Business hours: Monday-friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Main number .................... Steve Miller ......................
