A local group of entertainment organizers is putting together an event unlike any other in the area.

While the final details have yet to be locked down, the Yuba-sutter Taco Fest planned for April could see everything from a taco eating contest to lucha libre in the street and a Chihuahua beauty contest.

Local organizer Wally Alvarado and his team at Alma West Entertainment have high hopes for the event they plan to hold annually in Yuba-sutter for years to come.

The group most recently put on the Alma West Premier Latin Music and Food Festival in Sacramento last October. In the process of organizing such a large-scale event, Alvarado picked up a few skills he wanted to apply locally.

“I learned a lot from it, as far as the production side goes and putting together a festival,” Alvarado said. “In preparation, me and my partners went to over 20 different festivals. I’ve always thought about putting on my own in Marysville, being I’m from here, but I never knew the logistics of how to do it until I was part of this festival.”

The plan is to host the event on Fourth Street between B and D streets in Marysville. He hopes to have up to eight taco trucks, a beer garden and a kid’s zone, along with entertainment like an eating contest and a car show, to list a few things.

“We are still finalizing all of the details, but we’ve got some things in the works,” Alvarado said. “We want to finalize all the logistics before we start announcing vendors or anything like that.”

The Yuba-sutter Taco Fest is scheduled for April 27 between noon-6 p.m. Alvarado said anyone interested in attending or learning more about the event can find information on Facebook and Instagram, or by emailing him at yubasuttertacofest@gmail.com.

Organizers are looking for additional sponsors for the event as well.
