Top school administrators honored for their hard work, dedication
Association of California School Administrators hosted banquet for leaders from Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties
School administrators aren’t often credited for the work they do on a daily basis – much of it happens behind the scenes. Thursday night was an exception.
Top school administrators from Colusa, Sutter and Yuba counties were recognized for the work they do during an awards banquet at Hillcrest Plaza in Yuba City, put on by the local chapter of the Association of California School Administrators. The mission of the ACSA is to support California’s educational leaders, ensure all students have the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel, and champion public education.
“The awards are based upon the work they’ve done over the year and what distinguishes them as a top administrator,” said Doreen Osumi, Yuba City Unified School District superintendent and president of the local chapter of the ACSA.
The annual event sees administrators from the three counties come together for a night of drinks, dinner and socializing, capped off with an award ceremony that allows for the person who nominated the individual to say a few words, as well as the recipient. This year’s event awarded 12 local administrators.
“These are outstanding and very deserving administrators,” Osumi said. “When you look at these names, they have a really strong passion for their students and their families, they are visible within the community and they are all hardworking. I think they have really shown stellar work over the past year to move the students and families along.”
Jodie Jacklett, principal of Lone Tree School at Beale Air Force Base and director of Wheatland Charter Academy, said she loves the work she does and being named a top administrator will only give her more energy in her drive to be better for her students and staff.
“To say that I am honored is an understatement. I love and appreciate my position. I have deep respect for my district and for my school community. This award will be one of those highlight moments in my life that I will enjoy always,” she said.
A great administrator is a lot of things, she said. It’s someone who loves children and wants the best for them; someone who is willing to continue
