Rain to remain in Yuba-sutter for most of this week

Yuba-sutter residents can expect scattered showers through the middle of the week.

There’s a 60 percent chance of rain Sunday, National Weather Service Sacramento forecaster Johnnie Powell said Saturday, with a high of 58 degrees and a low of 48 degrees. Showers are likely mainly before 4 p.m. with a calm wind, according to NWS. New rain is estimated to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Monday will bring a break in the rain with a high of 59 degrees and a low of 45 degrees; the sun is likely to peek out from behind the clouds for a bit, Powell said. Rain will return around 4 p.m. Tuesday and continue into Wednesday night, according to the NWS. Tuesday’s high will be 58 degrees and the low will be 45 degrees. Wednesday’s high will be 58 degrees with a low of 51 degrees.

The forecast for Thursday and Friday is still a little spotty, though there’s a chance of rain showers, according to NWS. The high for Thursday is expected to be 57 degrees with a low of 48 degrees; the high for Friday is expected to be 56 degrees with a low of 44 degrees. There’s a chance of showers through Friday night.

The Sacramento River at the Tisdale Weir in Meridian is currently at monitor stage; as of Saturday afternoon, it was observed to be at 49.5 feet with flooding expected at 53 feet and the danger stage listed at 54 feet. The monitor stage is 45.5 feet. You can watch this and other river forecasts at cnrfc.noaa.gov.

The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook to alert motorists that it will be citing those who drive around road closure signs. There’s currently 20 roads closed in Sutter County for flooding and/or unsafe conditions: Franklin Road from Acacia to Tarke roads; Sacramento Avenue from Highway 99 to Kirkville Road; Kempton Road from Brewer to Placer roads; Placer Road from Riosa to Kempton roads; Pass Road from West Butte to Mawson roads; Hughes Road from Oswald to Schlad roads; Howsley Road from Pleasant Grove Road to the Placer County line; Fifield Road from Natomas to Pleasant Grove roads; Keys Road from Natomas to Pleasant Grove roads; Hicks Road from Pleasant Grove to Brewer roads; Brewer Road from Hicks Road to the Placer County line; Placer Road from Wheatland to Bear River roads; Bear River from Brewer to Placer roads; Warren Road from Nicolaus to Cornelius avenues; Pleasant Grove Road from Striplin Road to Cornelius Avenue; Pass Road from Kellogg to West Butte roads; Catlett Road from Pleasant Grove Road to the Placer County line; Pleasant Grove Road from Howsley to Catlett roads; and West Butte Road from Pass to North Butte roads.
