All-star form if he’s able to hide his pitches better.

The second time through the Angels order was not kind to Estrada. After cruising through the first two innings, the right-hander gave up all three runs on four consecutive hits in the third, including back-to-back home runs from Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.

pitches impressed Giants evaluators, who told Rodríguez shortly after the start he would open the season in the Triple-a Sacramento rotation. He lasted two months in the minor leagues before debuting with the Giants in Denver against the Rockies on May 29.

Pitchers rarely know ahead of time whether they’ll face “A” lineups or less competitive lineups filled with prospects and role players in spring training, but Rodríguez pitched against many of the same Rockies hitters he faced in his major league debut again Sunday.

“I like going out there and seeing their guys, seeing Charlie (Blackmon) leading off and Nolan (Arenado) and (Trevor) Story and all of those guys knowing that we’re going to see them a bunch during the year,” Rodríguez said. “Going out there and seeing them in the lineup gives you that competition.”
