Yuba County, Sacramento police searching for three suspects in pizza shop break-ins

- Appeal-democrat

Yuba County and Sacramento police are searching for three suspects responsible for breaking into and damaging two Little Caesars Pizza stores Sunday night.

Yuba County sheriff’s deputies responded to the store at 5062 Powerline Road in Olivehurst just before midnight for an alarm call, according to department spokeswoman Leslie Carbah. When they arrived, the front of the store had been damaged and after review of surveillance video, they discovered a van had breached the store in an attempted burglary of the safe.

At least three suspects, wearing hoods, masks and gloves, committed the burglary. The first two initially broke the window by hitting with sticks or poles and making entry, Carbah said. They attempted to take the safe, but it was bolted to the floor. The third suspect put the van in reverse and crashed into the front of the building but they were still unable to free the safe.

The suspects left in the van south

an envelope with $300 and divider boxes. When deputies arrived, the roosters were found in separate boxes with space dividers. They also found fresh blood and poultry feathers and shavings.

The civil petition – the legal notice published in the Appeal-democrat – shows that no one has come to the facility or responded to the posted inventory list to claim right or ownership of the birds. on Powerline Road; deputies ran the plate and determined it was stolen out of Yuba City.

About an hour later, Sacramento police took a burglary report at Little Caesars in Natomas, and it was confirmed it was the same vehicle and suspects. Around 3 a.m., the van was found by Sacramento California Highway Patrol abandoned near a levee.

“We will remain in communication with them as the cases are investigated further,” Carbah said in an email Monday.

Shelter supervisor Megan Anderson said Monday the birds were bred to fight and are extremely aggressive; making them unlikely candidates for adoption.

Geronimo S. Aguilar, 30, Israel C. Castro, 21, and Juan Tinoco, 52, all of Yuba City, were arrested by Animal Care Services in connection to the cockfighting. All three were charged with felony intentional cruelty to an

animal and are scheduled to next appear in Sutter County Superior Court March 27. Aguilar was charged with an additional four misdemeanor charges of owning or possessing any bird to be used in exhibition of fighting.

The hearing to consider euthanasia of the birds is scheduled for Monday, March 25, at 10 a.m. at Sutter County Superior Court. Main number .................... Steve Miller ......................
