Braves’ young talent is too much for Giants to handle

Soroka, Acuna lead Atlanta to win in first of four-game series

SAN FRANCISCO – The kind of young talent the Giants could only dream of was on display Monday night in a 4-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves at Oracle Park.

Starting pitcher Mike Soroka, 21, improved his record to 5-1, giving up two hits in eight innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. Leadoff batter Ronald Acuna Jr., also 21, hit a leadoff home run in the first inning and another solo shot in the seventh off Nick Vincent, his 10th and 11th of the season. He also had a

single in the fifth, on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out just one, but walked none and mostly got soft contact from Indians batters, mixing his sinker, four-seam fastball, slider and changeup.

Indians right-handed starter and loser Carlos Carrasco (4-4, 4.30) was considered a Cy Young Award candidate prior to the campaign, but has
