Three Aggies finished under par on the final day of the 21st annual The Prestige to lead the UC Davis men’s golf team to a 13th-place finish overall at the Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST in La Quinta.

Arizona and North Carolina shared the team title at 4-under for the three-day event, followed closely by Pepperdine in third, which was just one shot back. It is only the second time that

The Prestige title has been shared, joining the 2013 event that was split between USC and Washington.

The Wildcats’ Trevor Werbylo, TCU’S Jacob Skov Olesen, and Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg, shared the individual title at 4-under for the week.

As a team, UC Davis posted an even-par 284 to finish at 23-over par for the week, jumping seven spots in the standings.

Wednesday’s performance is tied for the fifth-lowest single-round score by an Aggie squad at the tournament, while Monday’s opening-round 287 is tied for 10th on the same list. With a total of 875 for the tournament, that performance also ranks as the seventh lowest on the school’s list.

Lucas Carper posted UC Davis’ low round of the day with a 3-under 68, tying teammate Thomas Hutchison for team-low honors with five birdies over the final 18 holes. Carper’s score is tied for the 11th lowest singleround by an Aggie at the event.

Hutchison was a shot behind him with a 2-under 69 — his lowest round of the event and 11 shots better than his round on Tuesday — while Redding native Mark Stephens also finished with his lowest round of the tournament, a 1-under 70.

Carper and Hutchison’s rounds in the 60s were two of only 12 such rounds on Wednesday’s final day.

After holding on to a spot in the top five through 36 holes, Jacob Westberg stumbled on Wednesday, ending the day with a 77 to finish atop the UC Davis lineup in a tie for 29th, while newcomer Alejandro Nava fired a final round 79 to wrap up his collegiate debut.

Meanwhile, at nearby Coral Mountain Golf Club, Colorado State’s A.J. Ott and Pepperdine’s Derek Hitchner shared honors at The Prestige Individual Tournament, each finishing at 12-under for the week. Ott broke 70 all three days, including a final-round 67 to leap into a share of the top spot after standing tied for fifth following Tuesday’s second round.

The Aggies are next in action on March 1-2, sending four individuals to compete at the Ninth Annual Sacramento State Invitational at Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove.
