Re: Local Talent

-

The process undertaken by Yuba City officials to identify the best candidate for City Manager from hundreds of applicants was unprecedented. It was lengthy and intense.

I have been a local executive since 1985. I met Dave Vaughn in 1997 working at the Marysville Kiwanis Italian night, setting up tables, and serving food at the legacy annual charity event.

For two decades I watched Dave evolve as one of the region’s leading business executives, and appreciated his involvement on charitable boards, and in the community at large. His constant local efforts were exemplary.

In 2000 a struggling local credit union took a chance on a local choice for CEO after an exhaustive year long search. Over the next 22 years that organization benefited from the professional

relationships and networks that individual had built within our Nor-cal region. Today that billion-dollar institution is considered one of the leading credit unions in California and it has earned a national reputation.

Staying local, hiring local, and buying local, when the opportunity presents itself, can have dramatic positive effects on an organization, and can enhance the quality of life that we all experience. The city of Yuba City already has some amazingly talented staff and leaders among its ranks. I believe that Dave Vaughn will provide the professional leadership necessary that will take the city of Yuba City to its next level of potential, and I am excited to support his efforts.
