Local art, writing students excel

Students at the Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts have not let the pandemic or distance learning slow down their creative efforts. Several visual art and creative writing students have recently been recognized for their talent, imagination, and resourcefulness.

Hogue and Angela Delgado all had work accepted into the Crocker Art Museum’s Kingsley Art Club High School Regional competition. Over 40 schools in a 100 mile radius of Sacramento submitted entries. A total of 72 student pieces will be on exhibit at the museum (initially, only virtually) March 4 until May 8, 2021. The MCAA students’ work included drawings, paintings, and digital art.

Yuba Sutter Arts and Culture will host the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Ceremony on Monday, February 22nd at 6 PM on their Facebook page and Youtube Channel. Eighteen MCAA Creative Writing students will receive regional recognition at the Yuba Sutter Arts ceremony with two students, Aubrie Amons (Gold Key, American Visions Nominee) and Noah Mote (two Gold Keys) moving on to the National competition. In addition, eleven MCAA art students will receive recognition at the ceremony with five students, Hope Cross (American Visions Nominee), Angela Delgado (American Visions Nominee), Alexi Hogue (Gold Key), Hunter Hudson-gessford (American

Visions Nominee), and Hannah Thayn (Gold Key) moving on to the National competition.
