Barbara Lee Watt Hetzel was born March 4, 1947, in Maxwell, California. She died March 12, 2021, in Medford, Oregon, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Barbara has lived in Yuba City, California; Eagle River, Alaska; and Medford, Oregon; and had a way of gathering friends wherever she went. People were drawn to her for many reasons, but especially her sweet smile, loving personality and spiritual glow.

At the young age of 13 she began playing piano in church services. She had a true talent in music ministry to make you feel her love of the Lord, music and all people. As she continued to study music she came to a crossroads of becoming a professional performer or teaching music. It was clear to her that her calling was in teaching piano because she loved the close bond that you share with people in a teaching environment. Her love of people and music shone brightly in her dedicated work as a piano teacher for over 55 years touching many students with her gifts. She was a patient, compassionate joyful teacher that brought out the best in her students.

She also continued to perform in church services, small ensembles and as an accompanist as well as often being a church choir director. Her latest position was the Music Director at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She had a gift of recruiting singers and musicians for her choirs who thought they didn’t have enough t a l e nt, were too busy or just done with music and renewed the love and joy of music in them.

While music was a major part of her life, her deepest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was proud of each one of them for their own unique gifts and showered them with love. Whenever she was around them she was at her happiest up to her very last day.

She will be deeply missed by her children and spouses, Paul and Karen, Norman and Jill and Ronna and Tommy; by her grandchildren, Connor, Hayden, Sophie, Claire, Joey, Madison, TJ and Brianna; by her brother and spouse, Jim and Sue; and by her extended family and many friends.

Services were previously held. Instead of flowers please consider donating to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Kyle D. Stirnaman went home to be with our Heavenly Father on April 6, 2021.

Born to Ben and Gail Stirnaman on June 25, 1962, in Yuba City, CA, Kyle grew up playing every sport in season. From the time he was a baby, Kyle was driven by sports – playing, reciting stats, watching – he loved it all. His favorites i ncluded t he Oakland Raiders, Rick Barry from the Golden State Warriors, Kenny “The Snake” Stabler and his beloved Notre Dame “Fighting Irish”. In fact, many of his nicknames for his family included names of famous athletes.

Kyle was i nvolved with youth baseball, Punt, Pass and Kick, big-league and high school baseball as a Yuba City Honker. The positive i nfluence of Coach Joe Graben had a large impact on Kyle by giving him confidence and Kyle spoke of Coach Graben frequently. Our family will forever be grateful for his direction and kindness.

One of Kyle’s greatest abilities and fondest memories growing up was spent playing golf. He and his best friends, Mark and Mike Souza, played golf together throughout their childhood. Summer memories include Aunt Sharon and Uncle George’s yellow mustang - with our cousin Steph at the wheel - seven kids with no seatbelts piled all together, heading out to another fun day at Peach Tree filled with golfing and swimming.

Kyle was a graduate of YCHS, and of Sacramento State University, and went on to become nationally recognized as a top salesman for Combined Insurance.

W i t h o u t q u e s t i o n, Kyle’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments are his children, Cade and Payton. Kyle loved to talk about them and continually shared pictures of them with everyone. His love for them was clearly evident and endless. He was so proud of them and wanted nothing more for t hem t han l i ve s filled with love and happiness.

Mom and Dad provided such a wonderful childhood, full of love and support, enhanced by our extended families of the Johnsons, Souzas, and Givans. Summers at Lake Tahoe; holidays spent together; barbeques and swim parties; all were memories he cherished. Many of his close friends consistently describe Kyle as a “good guy… a sweet person… and someone with a huge heart.” We feel it is important to thank someone special in Kyle’s life. Those who knew Kyle, knew he had his struggles and yet one stood by him throughout his life – and that is Joel Garcia. The family thanks you for your unwavering friendship…kyle was a lucky man to have you in his life.

By far, the most impact on Kyle’s life was from our parents. Words cannot describe the unconditional love, patience, generosity, and selflessness they demonstrated every day. Their children always came first, without exception, and Kyle often said how fortunate he was to have them as parents. Just a few weeks ago, Kyle reiterated to Mom and Dad his deepest gratitude for all they have done for him throughout his life. We find great comfort in the fact that Kyle was at peace with God.

He is survived by his two children, Cade, and Payton Stirnaman of Sandy OR; his parents,

Ben and Gail Stirnaman of Yuba City, CA; his sister, Tara, and her husband, Rick Deaguiar, and niece, Aria Deaguiar, of Meridian, ID; his sister, Karrine, and her husband, Tony Marefos of Yuba City, CA, and nephews, Cole Williams, and Kael Williams of Southern CA, and Ryne Williams, of Sacramento, CA.

Private family services will be scheduled at a later date. If you would like to make a donation, please consider Shriner’s Hospital for Children or The American Heart Association.

Ky…thank you for making us laugh. You were so loved and will be deeply missed.
