The Marysville Exchange Club is proud to announce the recipient of Yuba/sutter’s “Youth of the Year” award and scholarship. Nine area high schools participate. Three candidates become eligible for participation by being recommended by school staff as “Student of the Quarter”, then filling out a National entry form,
Ohio University announces Dean’s List recipients
More than 7,800 students qualified for the spring semester 2021 Dean’s List at Ohio University, including main and regional campuses.
Over 40 states were represented on the Dean’s List, including: Alabama, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Mexico, Washington and Ohio. Students also represented China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Oman, Peru and many other countries.
Students included:
– Savannah Collins of Beale AFB, CA, in the College of Arts and Sciences
– Emilee Miller of Yuba City, CA, in the College of Health Sciences and Professions
Due to COVID-19, Ohio students who earned 12 semester hours of credit, including at least six hours attempted for letter grades, with a minimum grade point average of at least 3.5 achieved this distinction. writing two essays and submission of forms by set date. The winner this year is Emma Elizabeth Cucchi from Sutter High School. She will receive the local scholarship, and Emma’s application has now been forwarded to the Sierra Pacific District (Northern California) board of Exchange Clubs and on its way to the National Exchange Club, in competition for the National “Youth of the Year” ($15,000) competition.
Olivehurst native graduates from Ohio University
Sarah Kearns from Olivehurst, CA, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Baccalaureate Nursing) from the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University.
More than 4,800 students graduated with bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degrees from Ohio University for spring semester 2021.
The graduates represented many areas of the United States and an abundance of countries, including: Bangladesh, Canada, China,
Ghana, India, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Local student graduates from Gonzaga University, is named to Dean’s List
Nicholas Whittlesey, of Marysville, earned placement on the Gonzaga University Dean’s List for spring semester 2021. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.84 grade-point average to be listed.
Whittlesey also participated in graduation exercises during our Commencement Ceremony that was
held on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
