Surrounded by family, Lugene Denise Boyd left us peacefully on April 24, 2023, after a prolonged encounter with cancer. She left this world with the same effortless grace she displayed in her life. Lugene was born in May 1946 to Leon and Muriel Gurney in Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Mary, and her older brother Roy. She is lovingly survived by her brother Lee, three stepdaught­ers, a stepson, and her devoted husband John.

Lugene lived her early years in the beautiful Skagit Valley area of Washington where her love of nature originated. She graduated from Washington State University. Following graduation, she moved to Yuba City and began her distinguis­hed career as an educator.

A lifelong learner, she proceeded to earn a special education credential, a masters degree, and an administra­tive credential. Lugene was a certified trainer of a multitude of organizati­on and educationa­l philosophi­es and their applicatio­ns. She conducted trainings throughout the United States. Her persistent drive for excellence spanned all areas of her life. Lugene deeply inspired others through her presence, curiosity, and love of learning.

On leaving her position as Director of Special Education for Yuba City Unified School District she assumed a similar position in the Napa Unified School District where she also excelled. Lugene quickly advanced to become the Napa County Director, Special Education, Child Care and Napa County SELPA until she retired.

Lugene and John retired to the Sea Ranch and in 2007 they built a house of their design in Grass Valley. She loved traveling the world with John, the love of her life. Their travels included many friends who were greatly enriched by her presence.

Lugene was a gifted artist. Her sculptures, floral arrangemen­ts, and interior design conveyed a deeply felt emotional sensitivit­y which was also obvious in her personal relationsh­ips. Her profound and understate­d influence and impact on others will live on.

A celebratio­n of life will take place on a future date.

Dusty Hodge, 67, of Marysville, passed away on May 14, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1956, to Russell and Madeline Hodge. Dusty was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle.

Dusty was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tim.

Dusty is survived by his wife, Corina; sister, Colleen; brother, Mark; three children, Shawn, Justin, and Lisa; four stepchildr­en, Justin, Scott, Sabrina, and Pamela; and his 9 grandchild­ren.

Although his life was cut short he left this world doing what he loved, riding his Harley.

Dusty graduated from Marysville High School and has lived and worked in the Yuba-sutter area for his entire life. Dusty enjoyed the last 4 years in retirement hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and being a part of the Boozefight­ers Motorcycle Club. He was proud to be part of that brotherhoo­d and even more proud to participat­e in events with them that contribute­d to this community.

Dusty wasn't a man of many words but was also the first to keep you in line if necessary. He was larger than life in so many ways and had an incredible smile if you were lucky enough to experience it. He was the strong and silent type with a heart of gold and will be missed tremendous­ly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Lakeside Colonial Chapel at 10 am, followed by a celebratio­n of life at the Moose Lodge in Yuba City from 12-3 pm.

Consuelo "Connie" Wiehn of Yuba City, California, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 87.

She was born on April 5, 1936, in Brawley, CA, to Ysobel “Chevelo” Lopez and Delphine Ponce Lopez. As a teenager, she moved with her parents and brother, David Lopez Sr., to Northern California where she attended Marysville High School. It was in this small town that she met the love of her life,

Larry Wiehn.

She and Larry were married in January 1961, and celebrated 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2021. Together, they had three children: Stella Ann, Gary and Deanna, and granddaugh­ter, Jamie who they helped raise.

To say Connie was the most incredible wife, mother, and grandmothe­r is an understate­ment. She shared that the best decades of her life were those alongside Larry, watching her children and granddaugh­ter growing up. She had a way of making others feel special and loved from the moment they met her.

For fun, she loved going to her son-in-law, Robert’s softball tournament­s, Sacramento Kings games, shopping, yard sales, buying plants and flowers, and working in her beautiful yard which could be more accurately described as a botanical garden with her magic touch.

After Working as the Manager and a Floral Designer for over 30 years at the Country Florist, Connie retired but didn’t stop designing amazing centerpiec­es, flower arrangemen­ts, and every beautiful decoration she dreamed up for all holidays.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Russell Wiehn; motherin-law, Gladys Wiehn; husband, Larry Wiehn; son, Gary Wiehn; and daughter, Stella Ann Wiehn.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Rodriguez; and son-inlaw, Robert Rodriguez of Yuba City; daughterin-law, Gina Wiehn of Gridley; granddaugh­ter, Jamie Wiehn of Yuba City, (Jovanny Quirino); brother, David Lopez Sr. of Marysville; and numerous nieces; nephews; and extended family members. To know Connie was to love her and her family welcomes all to remember her.

A Viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, between 2-6 pm at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home, 629 D Street, Marysville, CA 95901, followed by Rosary at 7 pm.

The Funeral Service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 702 C St., Marysville, CA 95901, followed by Graveside Service at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter. After graveside Service, there will be an afterservi­ce lunch at The Harvest Room in Yuba City, 1475 Tharp Road, Yuba City, CA, 95993.

David was born September 6, 1961, in Yuba City, California. He passed on March 6, 2023, in Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his Grandparen­ts, Parents, two sisters and several other family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, two sisters, and several other family members and friends.

He graduated from Yuba City High School in 1979 and pursued many careers. He loved assisting his clients while working at Sutter County Social Services but his years with Habitat for Humanity were his happiest.

David will be remembered for his passion for music and laughter. He was quick to lend a helping hand or to tell a joke or two. He loved telling stories of his family. His favorite story to tell was how he found out he fathered a daughter when he was young and did not know about her until she was 38 years old. She completed his happiness.

David’s memorial service will be held at Cornerston­e Church of Yuba City on July 22, 2023, at 10 am. The family suggests wearing shorts to honor Dave. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity.

Gurdial Kaur Takhar, 92, of Yuba City, CA, passed away May 16, 2023. She was born April 20, 1931, in Dhandra, Ludhiana, India. She was a mom, homemaker and farm laborer. She was a resident of the Yuba-sutter area for 56 years.

Gurdial is survived by her son, Anoop S. (Baljeet K.) Takhar of Yuba City, CA; daughter, Inderjit K. (Ragbinder S.) Sahota of Fremont, CA; daughter, Satinderji­t K. (Pardeep S.) Banga of Sacramento, CA; son, Satwant S. (Sharnjit K.) Takhar of Yuba City, CA; son, Kamaljit S. (Poonam) Takhar of Yuba City, CA; brother, Manohar S. Grewal of Vermont, MA; sister, Joginder K. Dhaliwal of Yuba City, CA; brother, Harjit S. Grewal of Rocklin, CA; brother, Kuldip S. Grewal of Fremont,

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gurmej S. Takhar; sister, Swarn K. Johl; mother, Sant K. Grewal; and father, Ranjit S. Grewal.

She was a member of the Sikh Temple in Tierra Buena and Bogue Road

Services will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 11:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA 95991, followed by prayer services at Sikh Temple Gurdwara, 2468 Tierra Buena Road, Yuba City, CA 95993.

Ronald Leon Atkins was born on October 20, 1939 in Westwood, CA. He passed on May 13, 2023. He married Joanne Horner in 1959 and they were married for 63 years. They had three sons, Robert, Thomas and Richard.

Ron graduated from Enterprise High School, class of 1957. He was the first student to receive a diploma from the new school. He attended the California Maritime Academy and Shasta College.

Ron worked at Shasta Moulding Company and worked his way up to President. He worked at Yuba River Moulding and Millwork and later as a social worker for

Yuba County.

During his retirement he was proud to be a Retired Senior Volunteer for the California Highway Patrol for 11 years and received a special award for community service. He was an avid traveler, pilot, reader and lover of old films.

Ron is survived by his wife Joanne, brother Robert (Gail), son Richard (Christine), granddaugh­ter Krista and grandsons Ryan, Tyler and Aaron. He had a great-granddaugh­ter Regina and greatgrand­son Colt.

He was preceded in death by his parents Chet and Elsie and sons, Robert and Thomas. He will be missed by many members of his extended family.

A private burial for his family will take place at Lawncrest Memorial in Redding, CA.
