Lewis "Dean" Waters of Yuba City, California, passed away on October 12, 2023, with his friends and family by his side.

Dean was born on December 29, 1934, to Lewis and Lennie Waters in Westville, Oklahoma, located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Dean had nine brothers and sisters and grew up in a very close-knit family. Dean's parents instilled in their children a steadfastness despite the adversity that came from time to time. They also taught their children a strong work ethic and they lived by strong godly principles. They worked hard, and when it came time to have fun, well, they knew how to do that too.

Dean married Mary Farmer on October 4, 1952, and they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Dean and Mary were blessed with three children: Danette (Buddy) Harrison of Yuba City, California; Regina (Bob) Angel of Santa Rosa, California; and Rodney (Sandi) Waters of Plumas Lake, California.

Dean worked as Controller for over twenty years for Van Dyke's Rice Dryer, Inc. in Pleasant Grove, California. When Dean retired, he was thrown a beautiful retirement celebration and given one gift in particular - a set of golf clubs. He played golf for over twenty years after he retired. He loved golf and introduced the game to many of his grandchildren.

One of their favorite hobbies was traveling. Dean and Mary purchased a motorhome shortly after retirement and traveled all over the United States. Many times, with a caravan of friends and family. Dean never missed a golf course no matter what state they traveled through. He was always able to find a partner to play nine holes.

Dean is survived by his wife, Mary, his three children, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Dean and Mary were members of Word of Life Church in Marysville, California, for many years. They loved to sing the old gospel hymns in church and at home. Dean sang while Mary played the piano or the organ. Their love for music has been passed down to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Golden Years Residential Care Home and many other doctors and medical assistants for the gracious and attentive care they have given to their dad for the past five years.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Word of Life Church.
