Darnell Elizabeth Howe
Darnell Elizabeth Hall Heffley Howe, 84, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, close friend of many, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the comfort of her own home in Yuba City, California, with the ones that loved her most. Darnell was born on December 30, 1939, at her home in Meridian, California, by her grandmother Nellie who was a midwife, to Wayne Hall and Fay Stass Hall.
Darnell was born and raised in Meridian, California, and graduated from Sutter Union High School in 1957. She briefly attended Yuba College. She enjoyed working at Yuba City High School, being apart of the Ladies Auxiliary at Fremont hospital, her Sorority Sisters and in recent years planning her High School Class reunions.
She is survived by her three children, Dwayne (Lisa) Heffley, Deatrice Heffley and Daren (Gayle) Heffley; and her grandchildren, Samuel Pharis, Rebekah (Morgan Osgood) Heffley, Tanner Heffley, Daren Heffley JR., Nicole (Zack) Trinidade, and Aislyn Dirkx.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Hall and Fay Staas Hall Rhodes; her sister, Alicia Flagor; and her companion Leroy Flagor.
A celebration of life will be held as a potluck service on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 2 pm at Sutter United Methodist Church, 7751 South Butte Road, Sutter, CA 95982. Please come and share your memories.
Phyllis Jean Gordon, a longtime resident of the Hallwood area of Marysville, CA, peacefully slipped away Friday, March 29, 2024, at her home.
Phyllis was born March 11, 1942, in Glendive, MT, to parents Clifford Brewster and Irene Zinda Brewster.
The family moved to Oregon following her father’s sudden death in 1947. Their mother had to go to work to support the young family so Phyllis stepped up and helped raise her brothers.
Phyllis married Paul Woodruff and the couple settled in Oroville, CA.
Phyllis went to work in a diner to support her three young sons following Paul’s untimely death in 1967. It was at the diner that Phyllis met Raymond Gordon. They married in 1971, and settled in Marysville, CA, to raise their growing family.
Between them they raised her kids, their kids, his kids and his step kids but they were all her children.
Phyllis worked at Avalon Bay for several years until they closed. She was diagnosed with melanoma in 2014, and spent nearly ten years in remission until it returned earlier this year.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Paul Woodruff (Peggy) of Arkansas; Craig Nolan (Kitty) of South Carolina; Lynn Woodruff of Marysville, CA; Danny Woodruff of Grass Valley, CA; Mike Casner (Ruth) of Florida; Donna Sorensen (Todd) of Sacramento, CA; and Pam Thornburg of Marys- ville, CA.
She is also survived by her brothers, Lemuel Brewster (Bonnie) of Rio Linda, CA, and Dennis Brewster (Debi) of Winston, OR, and her sister Liz Stevensonshaw (Richard) of Roseburg, OR; and her grandchildren, Shannah, Gary, Danya, Kenda, Alyssa, Tony, Ryan, Zachary, Jake, Luke, Blake, Taylor and Kyla; and great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Tuff, Lexi, Harlie, Garrett, Aubrey, Kendalyn, Madeline, Luka, Aziel, Magnus, Dayton, Hank, Winona, Carter and Amelia.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, and both of her husbands; children, James Gordon and Cindy Casner; grandchildren Danielle, Paul, Corey and Jackson; brothers, Clifford Brewster, Richard Miller, Larry Miller, Loren Miller and Sylvia Stevenson.
While Phyllis was beloved by her entire family she was also much loved by everyone who met her.
Phyllis had a kind, generous and gentle heart and will be missed by every person whose life she touched.

Pat was born April 21, 1967, in Fresno, CA, and at the age of one month was adopted by John L. and Carol A. (Maguire) Boyer.
Pat passed away suddenly on February 12, 2024, in Henderson, NV, at the age of 56.
He completed his K12 education in Westminster, CO, and two years at Pima Jr. College in Tucson, AZ.
At the age of 12, Pat made a Hole-in-one on a Par 3 course at the Hyland Hills Golf Course in Westminster. School and summer sports included baseball and soccer. A diehard Raider fan, he also loved poker, hiking, and concerts.
He had an accomplished career in Culinary Banquet Service as an A-1 Lead with the STRAT (Stratosphere Casino) and several casinos in Las Vegas.
A "Unique" person, he was a leader, one with a loving heart and a great sense of humor. He will be remembered and forever loved by family, friends and coworkers.
A private family service will be held.
