Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is committed to celebrating student artistic achievement at every level. We especially love inviting student artists into our galleries and theaters so that the entire Yubasutter area can experience the remarkable artistic output of our high school art departments. Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture is welcoming back the Yuba

City High School arts educators and students, this year for the first time in the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts. The Clark Family Black Box Theater will be converted into a walk-through art gallery.

This year’s Yuba City High School Student Art Exhibit free reception with refreshments will be held on Friday, April 12 from 4 – 7pm at the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts, 754

Plumas Street in Yuba City.

The show is being curated by the art department staff including Department Chair,

Carob Bradlyn, George Unpingco, Abigail Schicht, Jennifer Bell, Sally Hedley, and Athena Randolphgarner. Although few of our local elementary schools offer arts classes, we are thankful to our high school arts educators who take aspiring art students to the next level.

This is the latest in our series of Spring student art exhibits. YES Charter Academy and Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts have exhibited most recently, along with a first, a 4 th grand art show featuring the work of Lincrest Elementary students that was truly remarkable. It was great to see what one group of elementary school teachers has done to elevate the value of arts education for younger students. Student art shows help celebrate a whole new generation of artists and give students a forum for a public exhibition of their work. The pride is evident as student artists show off their work to their families and friends in the context of a public gallery environment.

Part of Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture’s mission is to promote exposure to the arts and to support art education for youth in our community. Be prepared to see and experience eye opening and breathtaking examples of artistic excellence. You might even see some contenders for this year’s upcoming Congressional Art Competition.

There is plenty of free street parking and in the adjacent parking lots. Write to david@ yubasutterarts.org for more information.
