Y-S Sea Cadets shine during annual inspection
The Yuba Sutter Sea Cadets, Matthew Axelson Division, once again demonstrated their excellence during the annual inspection for the US Naval Sea Cadet’s Region 12-8. This year’s inspection not only showcased the unit’s commitment to excellence but also highlighted the outstanding achievements of several cadets who have excelled in various aspects of the program.
Among the notable recognitions, Cadet Connor Simpson was awarded the prestigious Cadet of the Year for the Unit as well as the Greater Northern California Region 12, marking a significant milestone in his Sea Cadet journey.
This honor is a testament to Cadet Simpson’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to the values upheld by the Sea Cadets program.
Additionally, Cadet Gabbie Zemko received the esteemed Veterans of Foreign Wars award, recognizing her outstanding achievements in community service, education, leadership, and exemplary moral character. Zemko’s commitment to serving her community and embodying the core values of the Sea Cadets has not gone unnoticed.
Cadet Braden Crist was honored with the Daughters of the American Revolution award, a distinction given to cadets who exemplify exceptional leadership, honor, service, courage, and patriotism. Crist’s dedication to these values reflects positively on the Matthew Axelson Division and the broader Sea Cadets community.
Furthermore, League Cadet Callen Burns was awarded Cadet of the Year/ Theodore Roosevelt Youth Ribbon for the Unit and the Region, underscoring the depth of talent and dedication present within the Yuba Sutter Sea
Cadets. Burns’ recognition highlights the importance of fostering leadership and excellence among all levels of the program, including its youngest members from ages 10-14.
