COMPOSITION IN PHOTOSHOP

-

Every single Photoshop project should take composition into consideration. In fact, it is one of the main priorities of your frame when taking a photo or producing some artwork. In Photoshop, it is talked about in relation to how the subject of the image sits in the frame, and how it blends with the background. In short, it is how the image is arranged and organized, and there are a few factors that are required in order to make this work. It is how you choose to arrange the elements that can make or break a shot, design, or edit.

Some factors that heavily influence the composition of an image are perspectives and angles. If you are bringing an image into another image, then it is something that is going to require more thought. Make sure that both images follow a similar angle to begin with, as this will help reduce the amount of skewing and distortion needed. If you are creating something that you want to look authentic, make sure that the heights of certain objects are relative to the background. A human is never going to be taller than a house—well probably not, anyway.

Another element to consider is the shape and form factors. An image in Photoshop is a 3D representation of a scene. The more depth that this image has the more interesting it is to look at. This can be achieved by perfecting your arrangement and creating an intriguing composition.

The same can be said for color and shading. You can use this to your advantage to make things appear more 3D than they did originally. To make this work and look natural, the colors need to blend and not stick out like a sore thumb. These factors require patience but are worth their weight in gold when the composition all comes together.
