Noblechairs ICON Series Black Edition
The right throne for your setup?
WHEN YOU THINK about it, how much of your day is spent sitting on a chair? We aren’t ones to judge, but if you are an office worker/working from home that’s at least seven hours a day. Also, a lot of us like to kick back at our desks to procrastinate and game after work, enjoying that tiny bit of escapism till the early hours. So if you do the rough math, that’s a heck of a lot of time spent in one position. The comfier you are, the longer you will be able to work/game. So why would you not treat your body to the ergonomic tech it needs?
Noblechairs is a premium company when it comes to gaming chairs, stating that, “inspired by the most exclusive cars in the world, Noblechairs combines the latest ergonomics and sports-inspired design for the demanding individual.” So, does it meet these lofty promises with its ICON Series Black Edition gaming chair?
Straight out the box, you get a sense that everything is very durable, due to the weight of all the parts. Now that’s exactly what you’d expect, especially from a chair setting you back $490. You need to find sprinkles of premium at every corner, and thankfully you get this straight away. The five-star base of the chair is extremely sturdy and made of aluminum, with a lot of weight to it, spreading over a large surface area for better balance—exactly the factors you would look for in a chair’s foundation. The parts are all separated evenly, with protection all around, and you are greeted by a large, easy-to-follow manual. It’s very visual, so setting up this chair is a breeze. Everything you need comes in the box, including tools, with one spare bolt and screw for safe measure— unless we've made a mistake somewhere!
The Black Edition really is an update to Noblechairs' existing lineup of the EPIC, HERO, and ICON series chairs. The black color just works for every scenario—it's suitable for both domestic or office usage due to the professional, sleek look.
Material choice is very important when it comes to chairs at this price range. For the Black Edition, the chair is covered in German-made vinyl/PU hybrid leather that is super-soft to the touch—it's vegan too. The material’s surface is covered in micro-fine pores, which ensures maximum airflow. Paired with the open-pore cold foam used to pad the chair, it delivers excellent breathability. This is great to stop you from getting hot and sweaty, keeping you comfortable for longer. It’s also designed for durability, boasting tear and abrasion resistance. These are the kinds of materials being used in high-end cars—fancy.
FIT FOR ROYALTY
Functionality is very prominent in this chair too. It features tons of adjustments to get it to the exact position you need. Everything on this chair is left up to you, giving the consumer full control. Underneath the seat is a blockable tilting mechanism, to get into a comfortable leaned-back position—ideal for watching a movie. The chair has a 90-135 degree inclination angle-adjustment for that perfect positioning. It comes with two detachable cushions, one for lumbar support and one for the headrest, both of which are extremely plush and velvety. The ICON series also features softtouch 4D armrests, providing four-way directional adjustment. You really get the sense that Noblechairs has thought about every aspect of the chair to give you that premium experience. The rocking mechanism is a cool metal handle, and even the caster wheels are quiet and designed specifically for hard and soft flooring—during our testing the chair was very quiet, creating no distraction.
Piece all of this together and you have a durable, premium, and very well-built addition to any desk. The chair is also very minimal and stealth-like with its understated matte design. What would all this matter, though, if the chair was not nice to sit in for long? Thankfully it’s far from uncomfortable. It focuses more on the supportive side, which you will benefit from in the long term. Sitting in this all day causes no problems, allowing you to get that extra edge in gaming/work— the last thing you want is your own chair distracting you and driving you away from your desk. Everything here is of very high quality, which is what you expect for the price, but Noblechairs has hit the high standards it promised to deliver, that's for sure.
