YOUR FIRST THREE CONTAINERS

-

Containers are easy to create and destroy; if you’re looking to experiment, start with these three simple containers.

Booksonic-air ( https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/ booksonic-air): Create your own audiobook streaming server as featured in the Holiday 2019 issue (no. 172). Booksonic-air is a new version of the server that’s far more responsive, and boasts a new interface. Once running, access it through your browser at http://192.168.x.y:4040, where 192.168.x.y is your server’s IP address.

Bitwardenrs ( https://hub.docker.com/r/bitwardenrs/ server): Host your own Bitwarden password server in a lightweight container built using the Rust programming language. You need to map port 80 to an unused port (such as 4000), and “/data” to a folder such as “/home/docker/ containers/bitwarden” but that’s about it for the basics.

You do need to access it through a secure connection—the easiest way to do this, plus gain remote access, is by pairing it with LinuxServer’s Swag ( https://hub.docker.com/r/ linuxserver/swag), which comprises nginx and free Lets Encrypt SSL certificates. We covered this in issue 174.

Finally, Duplicati ( https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/ duplicati) provides you with an easy way to keep your server’s precious data backed up—point the “/source” mount path to your “/home” folder to ensure all your personal data and configuration (including Docker user and files) is backed up locally and to the cloud.
