Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
It was 2007 when Commander Shepard first made contact, but the culture of remakes has brought him (or her) around again, with a graphical upgrade and three-for-one
(plus DLC) pricing model, and these RPGs mixed with a heavy dose of third-person shooter are still better than many released since. The first game is a tight, focused introduction, but the second opens out to envelop a whole galaxy under threat.
It’s improved by what it’s lost—unwieldy vehicle sections and annoying weapon specializations have been cut, as has multiplayer—as much as by what it’s gained (the trilogy’s ending is the controversial Extended Cut version), and if you’ve not played before is an absolute steal.
