Maximum PC

IN CONCLUSION

-

OUR FIRST IMPRESSION is that we prefer the white variant of the Corsair 7000D Airflow, although the black case’s interior hides messy cables better. Talking of cables, we wish we’d chosen neater braided ones, especially the PCIe cable that connects to our GPU, which sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s a shame as the GPU with its subtle RGB branding and mount sits proudly in this behemoth of a case.

The case has multiple routes for cable management making this build easy to piece together in the final stages. Due to its large size, you will have to plan out the cable routes in case they are too short— it seems like the size of this case is both a plus and a negative. You won’t struggle for space when piecing it together but components can look lost within the chassis. As mentioned in our annotations, we’d have loved to include more of the NZXT fans found at the front of the PC. This isn’t a crazy RGB build, but it could have benefited from a soft interior glow.

Our results from the pre-overclocking benchmarks were great but weren’t exactly shocking. On paper, this is a tasty-looking build and it proved us right!

It gives us faith that this will make for a reliable futureproof build with scope for improvement down the line. The i912900K is the brain you should add to your gaming rig if you want the best right now. It’s a great performing CPU and should last a long time in your new PC. The ‘K’ in this model’s name also means that this chip is unlocked and ready for overclocking, so is ideal for this rig.

So, we are more than happy with how this machine performs. The build itself went smoothly with no hiccups for once and everything booted up just as it should. We aren’t necessarily superstitious but is this too good to be true? All that’s left to do now is to attempt to overclock this rig. We have spent all this time creating this build, so we may as well squeeze as much power as we can from it.

?? ?? We ran the Battle benchmark in TotalWar: ThreeKingdoms and got an FPS increase of 50 percent... we can’t complain about that!
