Younger Ballplayer­s Split Doublehead­er

The McDonald County seventhand eighth-grade baseball teams split a doublehead­er on April 15 against Hollister and Strafford.

The seventh-graders claimed a 2-0 win over Strafford behind a three-hit complete game from Bo Leach.

Logan Harriman drove in both of McDonald County’s runs to key the offense. Leach added a pair of hits while Cole Martin had a double.

The eighth-grade dropped a 15-1 decision to Hollister. Grayson Farris took the loss on the mound for McDonald County. Ethan Francisco had a hit and drove in the Mustangs’ only run.

McDonald County was at Wyandotte on April 17 before beginning play in the Grove Festival on April 21.

Grove

Grove swept a doublehead­er on April 13 at MCHS. In the seventhgra­de game, Harriman took the loss in McDonald County’s 5-2 defeat. Leach led the offense with three hits while Martin, Levi Malone, Colton Ruddick and Brandon Armstrong had one hit each.

Grove rallied in the fifth inning for a 17-15 win in the eighth-grade game. Kaden Keeling took the loss

in relief of Shadow Keeling.

Trent Alik, Logan Renner, Trayce McCool and Shadow Keeling had two hits each while Kaiden Campbell, Jackson Clarkson and Josh Parsons all had one.

Miami

The seventh-graders claimed a 14-5 win over Miami on April 11 behind the pitching of Armstrong and the hitting of Leach. Leach had two hits while Malone, Martin, Harriman, Armstrong, Levi Helm and Matthew Mora had one each.

The eighth-graders made it a sweep with a 9-7 win. Francisco picked up the win on the mound while Alik and Renner led the offense with two hits each. Francisco, Campbell, McCool, Lett and Creason added one hit each.
