Mus­tangs Place In Cross Coun­try Races

The McDon­ald County High School girls’ cross coun­try team earned sec­ond place at the Clin­ton High School Cross Coun­try In­vi­ta­tional held Sept. 15 at Clin­ton High School.

The Mus­tang boys’ team tied with Clin­ton for sec­ond place with 59 points but ended up third based on a tiebreaker.

Ka­lyn Stetina led the Lady Mus­tangs with a fifth-place fin­ish in a time of 23:28. Addy Mick also earned a medal, tak­ing sev­enth place in 23:47. Just miss­ing a medal were Natalie Staib who fin­ished in 16th place in 25:39 and Brook­lyn Win­ters in 17th in 25:43. Round­ing out the Lady Mus­tang re­sults was Azlen Smith who fin­ished in 26th place in 27:44.

Kaylee Harp of Har­risonville won the race in a time of 21:18.

Kansas City Lutheran won the team ti­tle with 22 points to out­dis­tance McDon­ald County in sec­ond with 47 points.

Boys

David Lazalde edged team­mate Gar­rett Spears to take sec­ond place in the boys’ race. Lazalde fin­ished in 18:30, while Spears took third in 18:31.

Round­ing out the McDon­ald County re­sults were Jack­son Behm, 14th, 19:26; Bryce Ber­ry­hill, 15th, 19:40; Tyler Moritz, 32nd, 21:35; Isa­iah Garvin, 43rd, 22:20; and Justin Smith, 51st, 23:17.

Kay­den Crig­ger of Kansas City Ruskin won the boys’ di­vi­sion with a time of 17:51.

McDon­ald County’s next race is set for Sept. 22 at East New­ton High School. Races be­gin at 10 a.m.

Ju­nior Var­sity

Eli Jack­son led the McDon­ald County ju­nior var­sity boys’ re­sults, tak­ing sixth with a time of 24:06. Gar­rett An­der­son was ninth in 25:40, while Ryan King was 12th in 25:42.
