Big 8 Conference Title

Kyle Killion finished second overall to lead the McDonald County junior high school boys’ cross country team to the Big 8 Conference Junior High Cross County Championsh­ip.

Killion finished in a time of 10:31, followed by teammates Levi Smith, 18th, 11:10; Isaac Behm, 19th, 11:17; Hunter Leach, 21st, 11:25; Lane Pratt, 23rd, 11:36; Caleb Garvin, 37th, 12:17; and Gunner Cooper, 43rd, 12:40.

Also competing for the boys’ team but not placing were Cross Spencer, 12:42; Carson Brock, 13:34; Mark Wilson, 14:50; Dylan Fertig, 14:50; Lucas Friend, 14:46; and Josh Boles, 15:38.

Kaden Padgett of Monett won the race in a time of 10:22.

McDonald County earned the conference title with 83 points, followed by East Newton with 91, Nevada 106, Lamar 108, Cassville 119, Marshfield 122, Springfiel­d Catholic 127, Reeds Spring 163 and Logan-Rogersvill­e 167.

Girls

Melissa McCrory finished in third place in a time of 11:56 to lead the McDonald County girls’ team.

Anna Belle Price was next for the Lady Mustangs, in 17th in 13:20, followed by Makenzie Haneline, 19th, 13:29; Haley Walczak, 32nd, 15:55; Jaslyn Billups-Wright, 33, 15:59, Kaidence Willis, 36th, 16:54; and Britany Akins, 42nd, 18:30.

Annie Moore of Cassville won the girls’ race in a time of 11:39.

Cassville won the girls’ team championsh­ip with 36 points, followed by LoganRoger­sville 60, Nevada 87, East Newton 97, McDonald County 104, Springfiel­d Catholic 140 and Monett 164.
