Players Selected For Snake County Stories
Actors and actresses were recently chosen for major roles in the upcoming Snake
County Stories.
The radio play, hosted by the McDonald County Historical Society, will take place at the McDonald County Performing Arts Center.
Auditions were held Dec. 1. Those in lead roles include:
Ellen — a single mother raising a child in the suburbs, to be played by Lea
Ann Bunting;
Jessie — a city child that is technically engaged, to be played by Leanna Schlessman;
Grandma Miller — Ellen’s mother’s, and grandmother of Jessie, living on her family farm, to be played by Linda Vallance;
Emmett — an English professor on vacation, to be played by Bill Martin;
Cooter — a long-time resident of McDonald County, to be played by Gayla Baker.
McDonald County Historical Society president Karen Dobbs said the production
will have a few surprises this year and the return of some favorites.
Dates and ticket information will be finalized soon.
Officials used to host the radio play during Jesse James Days but felt there was too much competition among various shows and events during that time frame. This year, the historical society members moved the show to the winter months, in the hopes of drawing a good crowd.
Proceeds from the play go to support the Historical Society.
