BAFFIN ISLAND POWDER HUNT
This season, Weber Arctic, the world’s northernmost helicopter guiding outfit, introduced one of the planet’s most remote heli-skiing experiences: a seven-day expedition to Canada’s Baffin Island—an area closer to the North Pole than to the U.S. border. Participants base out of the Inuit village of Clyde River and fly daily to the Arctic Cordillera range for powder runs. Co-owner Tessum Weber says the skiing is appropriate for intermediate (blue run) skiers and above, with a variety of terrain ranging from big, rolling glaciers to steep couloirs. “Gorgeous, long glacial descents are the norm,” he says. And yes, you will see polar bears. —Jayme Moye
