OCTOBER ABUZZ: BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AND HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Passion and philanthropy- two key necessities, during this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, where giving back reigned supreme at the Cancer Link’s Asian inspired “LOVE STRENGTH CURE” Luncheon at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
Chief Marketing Officer of Cano Health and Emmy Award-winning TV journalist, Rick Sanchez served as Master of Ceremonies for the luncheon, where he welcomed more than 600 benefactors donning numerous shades of pink. Cancer Link President Cheryl Ettelman, along with Founder and Chairman Marlene Berg, saluted patrons and sponsors including Braman Miami, Chanin and Adam Carlin, Marta Casas Celayas of Comcast, Marc Fauler of Fidelity Investments, Barbara Shapiro,
Joe Mara and Paul Johnson of Tweed and Tweed Charitable Foundation, Bunny Bastian, Elemis Spa, Tony Rodriguez, Mary and
Ron Rosenberg, Sandy and Paul Steinberg, Patricia and Linda Truppman, Norma Jean Abraham of the Anthony R. Abraham Foundation, Charles Berg of Berg, Ettelman and Berg, P.A., The Blank Foundation, Betty Madigan Brandt, Greenberg Traurig, P.A., Ana Milton of The
Jose Milton Foundation, Cathy
Band- Vitas Healthcare, Brenda Roche, Dr. Jill Senemar of Femcare, Sandra Simon, Singer Xenos Wealth Management, Adam Rosenberg of The Palace Group, Vicki Wyman and Ellen Weston at the benefit.
In keeping with the Asian theme, the afternoon guests were treated to performances by the Yi Dance Studio dancers of Boca and the Asian Ribbon Dance and Fan dance choreographed by Yichun Yang. Another definite highlight of the affair came when Sanchez auctioned off a 7 night stay at Villa Santa Caterina in Umbria Italy and a 5 night stay at Margaritaville Beach Resort in Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. The charismatic crowd witnessed an upbeat, high energy fashion show featuring the Julian Chang Collection. Chang showed off his top fall fashion trends. In fact, a pop –up boutique of the
Julian Chang Collection made his fabulous designs available instantly. Fabulous!!!! In the luncheon’s 31-year history, it has raised over $3 million for breast cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, which serves as the hub for cancer-related research, diagnosis, and treatment at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

FASHION FIGHTS CANCER
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Third Annual Fashion Fights Cancer event paid tribute to and saluted celebrity fashion stylist, breast cancer survivor and activist, Ann Caruso at The Moore Building in the Miami Design District. The District hosted the affair, which raised more than $9,000 in donations for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation whose mission is committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. They provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis and survivorship. Fashion visionary and breast cancer survivor Angeles Alumna launched this event three years ago to commemorate her battle with cancer and was extremely grateful for this year’s event outcome.
