This Canadian import, adapted from a book series by M.R. Hall, stars Serinda Swan as Toronto coroner Dr. Jenny Cooper. Recently widowed, Jenny has a teenage son, Ross (Ehren Kassam), who is still mourning his late father. On the job, Jenny works with homicide detective Donovan McAvoy (Roger Cross); Dr. Dwayne Allen (Lovell Adams-Gray), a pathologist, and his assistant, River Baitz (Kiley May). Eric Bruneau also stars. In the premiere, “Black Dog,” Jenny investigates a death in a teenage detention center.

Among the newbies: Washington, D.C., wine millionaire Rodney and his Los Angeles girlfriend Desiry, who works for a non-profit; Texas real-estate mogul Donovan, whose girlfriend Dani is an employee and former high-school classmate; and Miami Beach, Fla., pair Rick and Erica, who share a 45-year age gap.
