One of South Florida’s favorite Christmas traditions just got canceled.

Seraphic Fire, the Grammy-nominated vocal ensemble based in Miami, has postponed its fall and winter season, which means you won’t be able to buy a ticket to its popular Christmas concert or its annual staging of Handel’s Messiah.

The group announced its intentions in an email to subscribers.

“We are compelled to find new ways to share the vocal art form,” wrote executive director Rhett M. Del Campo. “We see this interim period as a unique opportunity to explore alternative presentation formats that still achieve the high level of execution we expect from ourselves and that resonates so deeply with our audiences.”

The vocal group will go online with a modified, multi-media Season S that begins in November and runs through April 2021.

There will be six concerts that will highlight music from the ninth to 21st centuries.

The six concerts will “use history’s perspective to connect us to the present and inspire hope for our collective future,” writes founder and artistic director Patrick Dupre Quigley, adding that “the musicians of Seraphic Fire will use every resource at our disposal (internet, mail, phone) to bridge the physical gap between performers and listeners until we can meet again in person.”

Passes to Season S will be available starting in September; subscribers should get info in the mail or via email soon. For more information, email Info@Seraph
