MTV Video Music Awards Keke Palmer is host for this year’s ceremonies, which will trade the crowded blowout originally planned for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in favor of musical performances by featured artists from various iconic New York locations across all five boroughs of the city. the coronavirus pandemic, but it also is intended as an homage to the spirit and resilience of the Big Apple in the face of this health crisis. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande lead the field of nominees with nine each.
8 PM ( HGTV) Renovation Inc Fan favorite home renovation experts Bryan and Sarah Baeumler return in this new reality series, which takes viewers inside the story of how the couple built their booming home renovation business in Canada. Bryan, a successful licensed contractor, is working from his home base of Ontario when Sarah joins the family-owned construction company as its project manager. It soon becomes apparent that their personal tastes and design visions are different enough that they’ll need to hone their innate sense of humor and fondness for banter to work together smoothly.
8 PM ( LIFE) MOVIE Secrets in the Woods Sandra (Brittany Underwood) is enjoying a weekend in a romantic cabin with her new boyfriend, Brant (Taylor Frey), but she keeps feeling that someone is watching them. Finally, she catches a glimpse of a strange man lurking in the shadows and tries to run for her
life, only to learn the chilling truth:
The stranger, Langley (Jim Klock), is Brant’s father, who uses his handsome son to lure women to this remote locale, where he wants them to replace his late wife. Kabby Borders co-stars in this 2020 thriller.

Camera A father and son manage to record tangible evidence of what looks to be a monster in a Canadian lake in the new episode “An Ogopogo Sighting and More.” In other stories, a doorbell security camera captures a terrifying scene of fiery orbs falling from the skies above California, and an investigative team is accosted by the restless spirits of a murdered family in Nevada.
9 PM ( HBO) Lovecraft Country Leti (Jurnee Smollett) transforms a ramshackle Victorian on Chicago’s North Side into a boarding house in a gesture she hopes will help mend fences with her sister Ruby (guest star Wunmi Mosaku) in the new episode “Holy Ghost.” Unfortunately, the project only stokes racism in the neighborhood and awakens trapped spirits that have lain dormant in the house. Meanwhile, George’s wife, Hippolyta (guest star Aunjanue Ellis) pressures Atticus (Jonathan Majors) for details about what happened in Ardham.
9 PM ( SHO) Love Fraud This new four-part true-crime docuseries from filmmakers Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady chronicles the disreputable exploits of con man Richard Scott Smith, a charmer who wrecked the lives of several women who fell under the spell of this cad. Ultimately Smith is forced to go on the run, while his diverse victims find a common bond in their burning need to put this scoundrel behind bars. The premiere, “You Just Gotta Trust Me,” centers on Tracy, whose daughters were leery of “Mickey” (Smith’s alias) almost from the beginning.
