In the new episode “Blind Date From Hell,” host Jonathan Bennett challenges the five remaining teams to offer creative proof that there’s nothing scarier than modern dating by devising their most terrifying vision of a blind date that has gone horribly wrong.

10 AM ( GOLF) 2020 U.S. Open Golf Championsh­ip Final round action in the U.S. Open tees off today at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., as golfers vie to be the winner of the 2020-21 season’s first major. Last year at Pebble Beach, Gary Woodland fought off a stiff challenge by two-time defending champ Brooks Koepka in the final round to ring up a threestrok­e victory for his first major title.

1 PM ( TBS) MLB Baseball In just about any other year, a Yankees/Red Sox match-up in late September would be cause to sit up and take notice. But in this shortened 2020 season, only one will be playing into October as these historical American League East rivals clash today at Fenway Park in the rubber game of a three-game set. Fighting with the Tampa Bay Rays for the top spot in the division, DJ LeMahieu and the Yankees hope to improve their chances with a win over Xander Bogaerts and the cellar-dwelling Sox.

8 PM 2 Last Tango in Halifax Alan and Celia (Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid) are settling into a lovely new home and entering their seventh year of marriage as this heartwarmi­ng, award-winning British drama opens a new season. Although they’re still in love, the couple isn’t seeing eye to eye on political matters, while the pressures of a new job and other distractio­ns add to the domestic tension. Elsewhere, Caroline (Sarah Lancashire) gets emotionall­y entangled at work, while Gillian (Nicola Walker) contends with a troublesom­e giraffe. Timothy West also stars.

8 PM 10 72nd Emmy Awards Jimmy Kimmel hosts the TV industry’s 72nd annual awards ceremonies, which will be a virtual affair this year due to the coronaviru­s pandemic. That means no presenters, nominees and winners will be physically gathering together, although many of the nominees are expected to give remote acceptance speeches in the event of a win. Nominees for outstandin­g comedy series include “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Dead to Me,” “The Good Place,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “Insecure,” “The Kominsky Method,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

8 PM ( LIFE) MOVIE Her Deadly Sugar Daddy Fresh out of college at 21, Bridget and her best friend, Lindsey, move to a new town, where the former begins a desperate search for some work that would support her nascent writing career. She takes a job as an executive assistant to business tycoon Anthony Giles, but while the gig comes with an eye-popping salary and lots of perks, Bridget quickly discovers this luxury may come at a deadly price. Lorynn York, Aubrey Reynolds and Brent Bailey star in this 2020 thriller.

piece In the new episode “Only in Amsterdam,” a Muslim staff member in a recovery center for addiction is found slain, her body bearing a stab wound that appears to have symbolic significan­ce. During the ensuing investigat­ion, evidence connects the victim to a rare-books library, where she researched religious erotica, an area of interest she shared with a Catholic nun. Piet (Marc Warren) and the other detectives soon find themselves drawn into a world of mysticism, alchemy and the occult. Maimie McCoy, Luke AllenGale and Elliot Barnes-Worrell also star.
