MONDAY’S BEST PICKS

-

9 PM $ One Day at a Time After Alex (Marcel Ruiz) accidentally catches his mother (Justina Machado) in a compromising position, Penelope decides it’s time to sit down with her son for a talk about healthy human sexuality in “Boundaries,” the first of two back-toback episodes. That effort is complicated, however, by Lydia’s (Rita Moreno) shocked and judgmental old-school perspective. Then, in “One Halloween at a Time,” Lydia finds something life-altering in the kitchen trash. Todd Grinnell and India de Beaufort also star.

9 PM ( BRV) Below Deck Mediterranean As the last charter draws to a close, Captain Sandy reflects on what has been a chaotic season even as a few remaining chips continue to fall in the new episode “A Mighty Wind.” After a disastrous fight, Jess and Rob struggle to reconcile, while Aesha resigns herself to the end of her yachting career. While Alex hopes to leave things with Bugsy on a positive note, Tom looks to clear his final hurdle. A huge surprise awaits the crew before they part ways.

9 PM ( FOOD) Halloween Baking Championship Host Carla Hall welcomes the six remaining bakers into the devil’s den, where she challenges them to conjure up a diabolically delicious dessert that incorporates such seemingly hellish ingredients as sauerkraut, beets, tamarind paste and tomato soup, in the new episode “The Devil Made Me Do It.” Judges Stephanie Boswell and

Zac Young help Hall decide which baker winds up consigned to the fiery pit of elimination.

9 PM ( TLC) The Family Chantel Now that their turbulent newlywed period is behind them — or so they hope —

Pedro and Chantel are working hard to make their American dreams come true as this “90 Day Fiancé” spinoff returns for its second season. Chantel is about to graduate from nursing school, but the couple’s plans beyond that point are complicated by the return of her big brother Royal to Atlanta, with Angenette, a bride from the Philippines. Pedro’s sister Nicole in the Dominican Republic has her own drama going with a New Yorker.

10 PM ( FOOD) The Big Bake In the new episode “Which Witch Is Which?,” host Brad Smith tasks the baking teams with casting a culinary spell over the kitchen by creating cakes inspired by the broomstick-riding sorceress who is widely regarded as the first lady of Halloween. Judges Harry Eastwood, Anna Olson and Eddie Jackson decide which team’s effort is the most enchanting.

10 PM ( HBO) We Are Who We Are As Sarah and Richard’s (Chloe Sevigny,

Kid Cudi) power struggle intensifies, the relationship between their wives continues to grow, with Sarah fueling the flames by joining Caitlin (Jordan Seamón) on the base’s virtual shooting range in the new episode “Right Here Right Now V.” Later, Caitlin enlists Fraser’s (Jack Dylan Grazer) help in making a bold statement. Elsewhere, diving deeper into Islam, Danny (Spence Moore II) questions Jenny (Faith Alabi) about his biological father.

11 PM ^ POV An award winner at the Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker Sam Soko’s documentary profiles political activist Boniface “Softie” Mwangi, an audacious political activist who decides to run for political office in Kenya, having spent several years fighting for justice there. Somewhat predictably, he quickly finds that running a clean campaign against wildly corrupt opponents, with only his idealism as a weapon, is challenging, to put it mildly.
