Coral Gables, Florida - A Life Remarkably Lived Mary Dot Klock, 92, adored soul mate and wife of 72 years to Joe Klock (deceased August 3, 2020), and worshiped mother to Joseph P. Klock, Jr., Susan Marie Kairalla (deceased) (Dr. Andrew Kairalla), Marilyn Klock Popko (Dr. Stephen Popko, deceased), Pat Klock Parker (Joseph Parker), Kathy Klock, Nancy Klock Corey (John Corey), Carol Klock, and Mary Beth Klock Perez (Diego Perez), and Grandmother to 19 adoring Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren. Mary Dot was born and raised in Germantown, Pennsylvania, and interrupted her college education at Chestnut Hill College to marry Joe, her first and only love. Mary Dot and Joe moved their eight children from Philadelphia to Miami in 1969 and, in 1974, together founded The Klock Company (later acquired by Coldwell Banker). With her two youngest still at home (and 4 or 5 in college or graduate school), Mary Dot embarked on a business career to help Joe build the company, at the time a new real estate business which succeeded despite its infancy in a deep recession. She excelled. Fortified by years of listening to Joe practice for speeches, helping him prepare, and watching him speak and train others at speaking engagements and training programs throughout the country, Mary Dot hit the ground running and became the company’s top salesperson. She then shared her knowledge by teaching and mentoring new agents, including her daughters. Mary Dot was the first president of the prestigious CRS Council (Certified Real Estate Specialist Council). She was a trailblazer in a male-dominated profession. She then started yet another career as a real estate investor and realized her life-long desire to own and breed horses. She did it all. Singing with Joe on the piano at wonderful parties with friends and relatives, co-founding and acting at the Playmasters Theatre in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, followed by lifetime love of theatre, travel all over the world, family cruises, fishing and boating, spending time with her beloved horses, tennis, shopping, weekends in Key Largo, and later, summers in New Hampshire. Mary Dot was a lifelong Catholic and an avid Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins football fan (and couch coach). Her Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren know her as the Family’s Grand Matriarch - a beautiful, elegant woman whose love for them knew no bounds and who encouraged each to do their best. Being in her presence meant feeling special and learning from her was one of their greatest gifts. Mary Dot was extraordinary - beautiful, intelligent, talented, strong, and formidable. Her family continues her legacy of love, grace, strength, and the drive to leave the world better than they found it. Mary Dot left her mark on the world for anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She lives in us and will always be in our hearts.
