-

8 PM ( LIFE) MOVIE Secrets of a Marine’s Wife Sadie Calvano (“Mom”) stars in this 2021 true-crime docudrama about 19-year-old Erin Corwin, who was married to a U.S. Marine corporal and expecting their first child when she abruptly vanished. Two months later, after an exhaustive search through Joshua Tree National

Park, Erin’s body is found at the bottom of an abandoned mineshaft. As the close-knit military community closes ranks while wondering whether Erin was killed by one of their own, investigators discover the paternity of Erin’s unborn child was a matter of conjecture. Evan Roderick and Andre Anthony also star.

8 PM ( AMC) MOVIE Detroit Kathryn Bigelow’s (“The Hurt Locker”) 2017 period crime drama may have lost money at the box office but received widespread critical acclaim for its uncompromising recreation of a real-life incident during a 1967 race riot in the titular Michigan city, which led to three unarmed men being gunned down by some police officers who went rogue. Headed by John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”), the splendid ensemble cast also features Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jason Mitchell, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie.

8 PM ( HBO) MOVIE Fatale Screenwriter David Loughery borrows several pages from the “Fatal Attraction” playbook for Deon Taylor’s 2020 thriller, which stars Michael Ealy as a former pro basketball star turned sports manager. Under multiple business and marital pressures, he succumbs to temptation during a trip to Las Vegas and has an overnight fling with a mysterious woman (Hilary Swank) he picks up in a bar. She turns out to be a police detective with several emotional screws loose. Mike Colter, Geoffrey Owens and Danny Pino co-star.

9 PM ( BET) BET Her Presents: Queen Collective 2020 Queen Latifah is the executive producer and driving force behind this powerful collection of short original films from rising female directors of color. Season 2 in this series premieres tonight with “A Song of Grace,” which follows 12-year-old composer Grace Moore as she navigates the challenges of today’s world and writes a new composition, making a space for herself in classical music and sharing her gift.

9 PM ( HALL) MOVIE Her Pen

Pal Victoria (Mallory Jansen), an event planner, is thrilled that her best friend is getting married in Paris, and she can’t wait to put her own design stamp on the nuptials. Her joyous anticipation of the big day is dampened, however, when Victoria learns her ex-boyfriend will be in attendance, with a date in tow. Determined not to be caught at a social disadvantage, Victoria moves swiftly to reconnect with a childhood pen pal (Josh Sasse) in France after several years in this 2021 romance.

10 PM ( FS1) MLB Baseball Two AL teams with not much hope for a playoff berth get together today in Southern California, where Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels will continue a three-game series against Jeimer Candelario and the Detroit Tigers. Though the three-time MVP has been his usual productive self, the Angels have played poorly and fallen to the bottom of the West. The Tigers are also cellardwellers in the Central, their hitters registering a .230 team batting average as of late May.

10 PM ( SUND) MOVIE The Stand: How One Gesture Shook the World This 2020 documentary from filmmakers Tom Ratcliffe and Becky Paige provides the back story to one of the most iconic sports photos in

American history: the image of two Black Olympians raising their fists and bowing their heads on the awards platform during the 1968 Mexico City Games. Wildly polarizing during that racially charged civil-rights era of U.S. politics, the photo today underscores how many problematic concerns those athlete’s were protesting remain urgent today, more than half a century later.
