THURSDAY’S BEST PICKS

-

8 PM ( grown-ish Zoey Johnson FREE) (Yara Shahidi) and her classmates return to campus for their senior year of college as this “black-ish” spinoff enters its fourth season. First, though, as the action resumes in “Ugh, Those Feels Again” Zoey and her pals head to Mexico for a relaxing summer getaway. Their vacation itinerary includes plenty of drinking games, a few new hookups, and the obligatory accompanying relationship drama. Oh, there’s also a wedding. 8PM( HBO) MOVIE Human Capital Filmmaker Marc Meyers’ beautifully cast 2019 adaptation of a novel by Stephen Amidon provides a showcase for an ensemble of talented actors as it chronicles the unhappy saga of two vastly different families whose lives intersect after their children begin a relationship. Unfortunately, a tragic accident is the outcome. Liev Schreiber, Peter Sarsgaard and Marisa Tomei star in a company that also includes Maya Hawke (daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman), Alex Wolff and Aasif Mandvi. 8PM( Keeping Up With the Joneses LMN) Vivica A. Fox is executive producer and star of this three-movie event series, in which she stars as Robin Jones, the recently widowed matriarch of a wealthy family who will stop at nothing to protect their business in a West Coast seaside town. In the first installment, an unknown adversary threatens Robin and her four stepdaughters: Pam (Arie Thompson), the calculating CEO of the family company; upright and good-hearted Carrie (Ciarra Carter); party girl Kayla (Shellie Sterling); and Tara (Jasmine Aivaliotis), a teenage Machiavelli. 9 PM G 9021OMG! The Cast Tells All “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Matt Cohen hosts this new one-hour special that looks back at the 2008-13 CW series “90210,” a reboot of and sequel to the iconic Fox high school drama “Beverly Hills, 90210.” The special includes new interviews with cast members AnnaLynne McCord, Michael Steger, Shenae Grimes, Matt Lanter, Tristan “Mack” Wilds, Trevor Donovan, Jessica Stroup and Jessica Lowndes, who dish on behindthe-scenes drama, noteworthy guest stars and their series finale that fans are still buzzing about. 9:45 PM ( HBO) MOVIE The Hunt First slated for release in 2019, this often graphic melodrama was delayed during a period of actual violence ... debuting several months later, but just before the coronavirus pandemic shut down most theaters and sent this to On Demand early. Hilary Swank plays the ringleader of an elite group that makes a sport out of pursuing so-called undesirables, with one target portrayed by Betty Gilpin (“GLOW”). It truly is a matter of the survival of both the fittest and the fastest. The picture was co-written and co-produced by Damon Lindelof (“Lost,” “Watchmen”). 10 PM ( Keeping Up With the LMN) Joneses Vivica A. 10:30 PM ( Backyard Bar Wars TRU) Comic and host Chris Distefano keeps the laughs coming in this chuckle-filled new reality competition series, a sendup of more poker-faced shows, with Distefano “roasting” the efforts of the neighbor-builders as they compete to see which of them can create the most dazzling at-home bar on their block. While the jokes are plentiful, though, the bars themselves are nothing to laugh at, and the final reveals are often jaw-dropping.
