8 PM * The 2021 ESPYS Hosted by Marvel action star Anthony Mackie, the awards ceremony known as the Oscars of major athletic talent returns to a full-blown event from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the 2020 ESPY Awards into an abbreviate­d format that recognized outstandin­g public service by sports figures. Among this year’s field of nominees, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbac­k Tom Brady figures in the categories of Best Athlete — Men’s Sports and Best NFL Player, his fourth and 10th nomination in those respective categories. 8 PM ( LIFE) MOVIE Framed by When Rick is targeted My Husband for extortion by a woman who claims he sexually assaulted her, he tells his wife, June, that his would-be blackmaile­r is an obsessed suitor whom he rejected, and persuades June to help keep the accusation­s from going public in this 2021 thriller. In fact, June agrees to pay off the woman, but when the latter is found dead, June finds herself the prime suspect for detectives. Christine Chatelain, Dan Payne and Rebecca Roberts star. 8 PM ( Cold Justice Oxygen’s highOXY) est rated series launches a new season, following veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler and a rotating team of seasoned detectives as they travel to small towns to take a fresh look at unsolved murder cases. To date, the show’s team has helped secure 21 conviction­s and 49 arrests. In tonight’s season premiere, “Holiday Homicide,” Siegler is in Stafford, Texas, with Detective Abbey Abbondando­lo to investigat­e the coldbloode­d killing of Jerry Don Humphrey, owner of a tow-truck business. The investigat­ion takes the duo into a world of alleged abuse and infidelity. 8 PM ( HBO) MOVIE Judas and Six Academy the Black Messiah Award nomination­s, including best picture, went to director and co-writer Shaka King’s critically acclaimed 2021 biographic­al drama, which traces the complicate­d relationsh­ip between Black Panther leader Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya) and William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield), an FBI informant, in late 1960s Chicago. Kaluuya took home the Oscar gold as best supporting actor on awards night, although Stanfield was nominated in the same category as well, with “Fight for You” also winning as best original song. Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders and Lil Rel Howery co-star. 8 PM ( Meerkat Manor: Rise of BBCA) the Dynasty Alone and at extreme risk now that she has been evicted, Sencha is clinging as close as she can to her family, hoping for a reprieve, in the Season 1 finale “The Outcast.” Luckily, an unexpected lifeline presents itself in the shape of rover Lilac, who brings with him the prospect of a better life together. Bill Nighy is the narrator. 9 PM ( HALL) MOVIE Crashing Through the Snow Former spouses Maggie and Jeff (Amy Acker, Kristian Bruun) have stayed friendly since their divorce, so when Jeff’s new girlfriend, Kate (Brooke Nevin), impulsivel­y invites Amy to an Aspen Christmas getaway with her and Jeff, Amy happily accepts. Once there, though, it’s hard for her not to feel like a third wheel to Jeff and Kate, until Kate’s brother Sam (Warren Christie) — who has some sibling issues of his own — shows up as well in this 2021 yuletide comedy, part of Hallmark’s “Christmas in July” event. 9 PM ( Kindred Spirits ParaTRAV) normal investigat­ing team Amy Bruni, Adam Berry and Chip Coffey face a residentia­l crisis as they investigat­e a sudden haunting in Massachuse­tts in a new episode called “Hidden Passage.” 9 PM ( SHO) MOVIE Embattled Loosely based on mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor, director Nick Sarkisov’s 2020 sports drama stars Stephen Dorff as Cash, an MMA champion raised by an abusive father. After attaining celebrity status, Cash is thrown for a loop when his second son is born with a genetic disorder known as Williams syndrome. He walks out on his family, forcing his eldest son, Jett (Darren Mann), to step in as a surrogate father and caregiver to Quinn (Colin McKenna), his younger sibling. Karrueche Tran and Donald Faison also star.
