‘American Restaurant Battle’
Conducted remotely from host Scott Conant’s home base in Scottsdale, Ariz., this new special finds the veteran chef and restaurateur overseeing a culinary battle among chefs working in their own restaurant kitchens, all in real time.
8 PM _ LEGO Masters Three teams of brothers confront the last challenge of the season in a finale called “Master Build — Day & Night.” Host Will Arnett, along with Brickmasters Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard, gives the teams 24 hours to design and construct a master build that is pretty much anything their brains can imagine. Well, actually there is one twist: Each build needs to have two looks, one for day, the other for night. The most successful team takes home the $100,000 grand prize, the LEGO trophy and the title of LEGO Masters.
8 PM ( The Dead Files The new TRAV) episode “No Rest for the Living” finds former homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan confronting disturbed spirits at a California hotel that is built on what once was the site of a psychiatric hospital. Later, Steve and Amy investigate frightening and unexplained phenomena at a minister’s home in Connecticut.
8 PM ( TCM) MOVIE The Paper Chase John Houseman found his signature role — and won an Oscar — in this 1973 drama as Charles Kingsfield, a merciless Ivy League law-school professor who strikes fear in the hearts of his first-year students. One of them is country boy James T. Hart (Timothy Bottoms), whose brains and determination won’t let Kingsfield get the best of him, but whose looks and charm attract the professor’s daughter (Lindsay Wagner). The hit film airs as part of a “Back on Campus” theme night of movies with a college setting.
8 PM ( Queen Sugar In the new OWN) episode “And Dream With Them Deeply,” the Bordelons have a tense conversation with Billie (Tammy Townsend), daughter of family friend Prosper Denton (Henry G. Sanders). Meanwhile, Micah (Nicholas Ashe) is haunted by some past traumas, as Ralph Angel and Darla (Kofi Siriboe, Bianca Lawson) make more baby preparations. Elsewhere, Violet (Tina Lifford) offers a helping hand, while Nova (Rutina Wesley) faces some harsh truths. Dawn-Lyen Gardner also stars.
9 PM _ Fantasy Island An introverted bookworm who has promised herself to start saying “Yes” to life more often wants to travel back in time to meet her favorite author in the new episode “The Romance & The Bromance.” Meanwhile, a hyper-competitive survivalist discovers that the ultimate challenge awaiting him is something for which he hasn’t trained. Eric Winter, Caitlin Stasey, Gillian Saker and Andrew Richardson guest star; Roselyn Sanchez and Kiara Barnes also star.
9 PM ( Teen Mom: Young and MTV) Pregnant Kayla is both uneasy and highly skeptical when she gets a surprise phone call from Stephan’s mom requesting that the two of them meet up in a new episode called “High Noon.” Meanwhile, a call from Amour’s dad in prison triggers Kiaya to consider finally making amends with his own long-estranged mother, Carla.
9 PM ( My Big Fat Fabulous Life TLC) In the new episode “Retreat Yourself,” Whitney and her friends begin to have doubts about her French suitor’s true intentions after a revelation during the big girls’ retreat forces Whitney to acknowledge the troubling similarities between this European gentleman and a questionable man in her past. After a lot of discussion and even more internal debate, she realizes she must decide whether she will give him a chance or not.
10 PM ( MOVIE Karen Inspired BET) by a real-life incident and an entire series of social media memes, writer-director Coke Daniels’ 2021 drama stars Taryn Manning (“Orange Is the New Black”) in the title role of a virulent racist white woman who vows to make life miserable for a Black family who recently moved into her neighborhood. Unfortunately for her, the newcomers (Cory Hardrict, Jasmine Burke) have no intention of caving to her nastiness. Gregory Alan Williams and Brandon Sklenar also star.
