Miami , Florida - A retired Psychiatrist who dedicated his life to helping others leaves a lasting impression on the medical field. Dr. Stincer was born in Havana, Cuba, where he escaped the perils of communism on the first flight of Operation Peter Pan. His late parents Carlos and Ofelia Stincer were heavily involved in helping children escape the island and risked their own lives for freedom. Dr. Stincer began his career as a Psychiatrist and Neurologist at Union Memorial, and completed his residency at Sheppard-Pratt Hospital, Baltimore, MD. In 1978, Dr. Stincer joined the University of Miami Medical School, psychiatric unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was the in-patient director and taught medical students and residents. Most of his career was dedicated at Mercy Hospital where he would become the Psychiatry Department Chairman, and eventually President of the Medical Staff in 2002. He continued his private practice until 2019. Dr. Stincer was an extraordinary man. A true intellect, an artist and a romantic. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Maria Rosa, his son, Carlos Jr., his daughter Daniella & granddaughter, Alexis. It is with a heavy heart, his family, friends and local community say farewell, remembering him as a warm, kind and incredibly intelligent human being. With love and admiration always. We love you! In lieu of flowers, please donate to the John K. Robinson Fund, to support University of Miami medical scholarships: bit.ly/TributeGift-JKR. Thank you.
