8 PM ( DSC) Deadliest Catch Sig Hansen, one of the most iconic figures in the history of “Deadliest Catch,” is approachin­g greatest-of-all- time status as a Bering Sea crab captain, with nearly a half century of experience behind him. In the new episode “Succession,” however, his hard-won ways are put to the test when daughter Mandy Hansen pressures him to cement her position as designated heir to the Hansen Family legacy.

8 PM ( HBO) Level Playing Field “Down the Backstretc­h” explores how the shift in U.S. immigratio­n policy towards Central America during the Trump administra­tion adversely affected the horse-racing industry. Given that laborers from Latin American countries make up the majority of backstretc­h workers at American racetracks, the so-called “sport of kings” abruptly found itself with a critical shortage of some of its most undervalue­d and overlooked workers.

9 PM & La Brea This new action fantasy opens on an epic scale, as a massive sinkhole opens without warning in the middle of Los Angeles, pulling hundreds of people and buildings far into its depths. Those who survive the fall are shocked to find themselves in a mysterious primeval land where they must band together to survive. The series focuses on one family who are torn apart by this freakish incident, with those left behind struggling to find a way they can reunite. Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken and Jon Seda star.
