TMC 8:30 PM * NBA Basketball NBA Finals preview, anyone? Two of the league’s top teams get down to business tonight at Chase Center, where Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors hope the home court is to their advantage against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets, at this writing the No. 2 seed in the East, recently got a big boost with the return of star point guard Kyrie Irving — for road games, anyway. The Dubs, meanwhile, are the top team in the West with seven-time All-Star Curry leading the way.

10 PM (TNT) MOVIE The Way Back Gavin O’Connor’s inspirational 2020 sports drama about an alcoholic construction worker (Ben Affleck) who gets a chance at redemption when he is recruited to become head basketball coach at his former high school got a warm critical reception on its release just days before the coronavirus pandemic closed theaters around the world. Al Madrigal plays a supportive faculty colleague of Affleck’s character, with Janina Gavankar and Michaela Watkins as his wife and sister respectively. Glynn Turman and Todd Stashwick co-star. 10 PM (TRAV) Kindred Spirits A new episode called “Tradition Dies Hard” takes ghostbusting trio Adam Berry, Amy Bruni and Chip Coffey inside an iconic New Jersey mansion that has been converted into a museum at the behest of a dying matriarch. Now, however, staff and visitors at the museum report that the premises are being haunted by the restless spirits of that late matriarch’s family.

7:45 PM (FREE) MOVIE The Angry Birds Movie Most critics found themselves forced to agree that, for a movie based on an app, this 2016 computer-animated comedy was surprisingly funny. Jason Sudeikis lends his voice to Red, whose short temper has made him a pariah to his avian neighbors on Bird Island. Once Red grows suspicious that a newly arrived group of pigs is hatching a dastardly scheme, however, Red rallies his feathered allies to mount a defense. The voice cast also includes Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph and Kate McKinnon; a 2019 sequel immediately follows.

8PM G Great Chocolate Showdown This tasty new cooking competition, a Canadian import, showcases 10 amateur home bakers as they compete in a series of themed challenges built around chocolate baking and confections. A typical episode opens with an initial Technique Test, followed by a Chocolate Elimination Challenge. The season’s winner receives a grand prize of $50,000. Steven Hodge, Anna Olson and Cynthia Stroud are the judges.

(’02, Suspense) Colin Farrell, Kiefer

(’17, Action) Colin command as much prestige as working as a butler to a royal household, where skill, knowledge and discretion all are expected to be of the highest standards. At a prestigious academy where aspiring butlers are trained, then, the rivalry is absolutely cutthroat, as trainees Emma and Henry (Stacey Farber, Corey Cott) — both Type-A personalities in their own right — soon discover in this 2022 romantic comedy. Maxwell Caulfield, Jacqueline Ann Steuart and Bronwen Smith co-star.

8PM (HBO) MOVIE The Eyes of Tammy Faye Michael Showalter (the “Wet Hot American Summer” movie and TV franchise) directed this 2021 biographical drama, adapted from a successful 2000 documentary of the same title, with Jessica Chastain earning rave reviews for her portrayal of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. The film chronicles how Bakker — with her preacher husband Jim Bakker (played by Andrew Garfield) — built the world’s largest religious broadcasting network (and glitzy theme park) before their fall from grace. Cherry Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio, Fredric Lehne and Sam Jaeger also are featured.
