Iden McWhorter March 2, 1971 - December 30, 2021

Atlanta, Georgia - Iden Scott McWhorter, 50, passed away in his sleep while visiting family for the holidays in Boynton Beach, Florida. Diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 32, he defied the doctors’ prognosis of 3-6 months to live, and survived for 18 years.

Iden was born in Miami and grew up in Coral Gables, graduated from Gables High and got his BA and MA in architecture from the University of Florida. He was the in-house architect for Robert Jackson Construction in Atlanta, but at heart he was an artist, working in wood and drawing with pen and ink.

Survivors include his son Spencer and daughter Alexandra (Alexa) of Miami, sister Amber Ortoll of West Palm Beach, and mother Mary van Zandt of Boynton Beach.
