happened to John Irons (Wolé Parks), and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) starts to doubt herself, worrying that she had been wrong about Ally (guest star Rya Kihlstedt). Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) learns of his grandfather’s (Dylan Walsh) secret plan to train Jordan (Alexander Garfin).

8PM (STRZ) MOVIE Subjects of Desire Filmmaker Jennifer Holness’ thought-provoking new documentary examines a cultural shift under way in North American beauty standards toward embracing Black female aesthetics and facial features, although it’s accompanied by sometimes dangerous portrayals of Black women in the media. Some might interpret society’s new fixation on a full “booty” and more ethnic hairstyles as evidence that Black women are having a beauty moment. Others, however, argue that traditional Black features and attributes are viewed as more desirable if they’re on white women.

9PM ^ Fannie Lou Hamer’s America: An America ReFramed Special The acclaimed documentary series “America ReFramed” launches a new season with

this engrossing portrait and chronicle of the life and work of Fannie Lou Hamer, a sharecropper from Mississippi who became a human rights firebrand in her later life. Born Fannie Lou Townsend on Oct. 6, 1917, in Montgomery County, Miss., Hamer began civil rights activism in 1962, earning a reputation for using hymnals and Bible quotes in her appearances. During her crusade, she endured threats, extortion and physical assault by racists, some of them police officers.

9PM * Abbott Elementary Janine (Quinta Brunson) is thrilled when Ava (Janelle James) asks her to help teach an after-school step class, but the two women can’t agree on the best way to run the program in the new episode “Step Class.” Later, Gregory (Tyler James Williams) is forced to reveal a secret when Barbara, Melissa and Jacob (Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti) schedule an “eat-off” to decide who makes the best pizza in Philadelphia.

9PM G Naomi Still shaken by her terrifying encounter with the bounty hunter, Naomi (Kaci Walfall) continues

training with Dee (Alexander Wraith) to gain better control of her powers in the new episode “Shadow Ridge.” Meanwhile, the class prepares to embark on a week-long camping excursion as Naomi and Nathan (Daniel Puig) rekindle their romance. Cranston Johnson, Mary-Charles Jones, Barry Watson and Mouzam Makkar also star. 10 PM * To Tell the Truth Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award winner Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet”) joins comic Gary Owen and actor Donald Faison on the panel of tonight’s new episode as they try to discern which of the guests introduced by hosts Anthony Anderson are who they claim to be. In this case, that includes a celebrity makeup artist, a “pee app” developer, a duck master, a collector of dinosaur poop and the reigning clown of the year.

10:02 PM (TLC) Doubling Down With the Derricos Deon and Karen Derrico ponder a potentially life-changing move even as they already have their hands full with their 14 kids, all of whom are presenting them with new challenges, as this hit reality series returns for a new season. The decision

the couple are wrestling with is whether to move cross-country to South Carolina, to be closer to Karen’s extended family and her Southern heritage.
