Life is good for Jeff Stepsister Mitchell, who seems to have it all: a lucrative and fulfilling job, a loving wife and two exceptional children. Then the universe delivers a sucker punch in the form of Carlee, a young woman who recently lost her mother. Jeff doesn’t know that, just before finishing high school, he got his girlfriend pregnant. Carlee, the product of that union, wants to find some answers now that mom is gone. Annika Foster, Tu Morrow and Matthew Pohlkamp star in this 2022 thriller.

Killer “The Toy Box Killer” revisits the chilling 1999 case of Cynthia Vigil, who was kidnapped in Truth or Consequences, N.M., and held captive for three days before she managed to escape and flee to the police. David Parker Ray, her kidnapper, was taken to jail, and the subsequent FBI investigation revealed that Parker had a well-stocked torture chamber — which he called “the toy box” — that almost beggared the imagination. He also was responsible for multiple incidents of kidnapping, torture and murder. Another episode immediately follows.
