David Feinberg November 3, 1938 - February 21, 2022

Cutler Bay, Florida David Jay Feinberg, AIA Emeritus, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at his Cutler Bay home in Florida, at the age of 83. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Westcheste­r, New York, he was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvan­ia, School of Fine Arts.

He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, Infantry, stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was shipped to Germany to reinforce the Berlin Brigade after The Wall was built. There he met his wife, Hannelore “Hannah” to whom he was married for 59 wonderful years.

David is survived by Hannah; their two sons, Daniel (Christy) of Punta Gorda,

Florida, and Alexander (Amy) of Saugerties, New York; and grandson, Zachary. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Anders) Shafer; two nieces, Ariel Shafer, and Leah (Mark) Baumann; and three cousins, Tony (Susan) Robins, Donald (Kayko) Robins, and Jessica (Peter) Miller.

David practiced architectu­re in New York and Florida for over 50 years. Notable projects he worked on include, the Shrine of the Book (Qumran), Yeshiva university in New York, Dade County Schools, rehabilita­tion of the Art Deco District in South Beach, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, and the Chabad of Cutler Bay synagogue.

David had many interests and was passionate about Opera and Ham radio where he was known as K4IDN. He was artistical­ly gifted and carved numerous Meerschaum and Briar pipes. David supported many charitable, religious, environmen­tal, animal welfare, and veterans causes. He will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery with military honors.
